NSF Graduate Research Felloship Program (GRFP)

National Science Foundation (NSF) supports fellowships for outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full time research masters and doctoral degrees in STEM fields.

GRFP provides three years of support over a five year fellowship period for individuals who have demonstrated a potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education.

GEM Fellowship Program

GEM (The National GEM Consortium) offers MS and Ph.D. level students an outstanding opportunity and access to top US Engineering and Science firms and Universities. The program was designed to promote opportunities for individuals to enter industry at the graduate level in various STEM areas of interst.

Fellows are provided practical engineering summer work experience with an employer sponsorand a portable academic year fellowship which can be used at any participating GEM Member University.

The Hertz Foundation Fellowship

The Hertz Fellowship is a five year funding opportunity awarded annually to the nation’s most promissing graduate students in science and technology to pursue innovative ideas with real-world impact.

Herts Fellows join a diverse community of more than 1,300 peers and enjoy a life long professional support including invitations to special events, scientific symposia and workshops and social network opportunities.

VSGC Graduate STEM Fellowship

The Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) Graduate Research STEM Fellowship Program provides $6,000 fellowships in support of graduate students to supplement and enhance their research efforts.

Applicants must be enrolled full time in a STEM program and have a faculty-mentored research project that has NASA or aerospace relevance. Awards are made anually and are renewable for one year provided students’ satisfactory academic and research progress.

NIH Graduate Partnership Program Individual Partnership

This program is for current graduate students interested in completing all or part of their doctoral research at the NIH. These are full-time research postions in one of the NIH Institutes and Centers affiliated with the NIH Intramural Research Program. Research opportunities are offered to explore basic, translational and clinical research in a broad range of topics in biomedical, behavioral and social sciences.

Graduate student stipends are adjusted annually and are based on experience gained after the completion of the undergradute degree.
